JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the day-to-day communications function of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center.

CHAIN COMMAND
Answers to the Supervisor of Radio Operations.

CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
•Answers emergency and non-emergency telephone calls
• Obtains and enters information on calls for service
• Dispatches, maintains contact and communicates with field units
• Uses the mapping system
• Provides necessary information when requested, to include:
» Tag queries
» Warrant/wanted person queries
» Driver license queries
     » Stolen property queries
• Enters information into computer systems
• Performs GCIC operations
• Performs multiple types of CAD entries
• Performs other related duties, as needed

KNOWLEDGE OR SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
• Knowledge of the geography and roads of the county
• Knowledge of law enforcement and communications center procedures
• Skills in oral and written communication
• Skills in public relations
• Skills in computer operations
• Musts be able to compose and perform multi-tasks in a timely manner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must pass all drug screenings
• Holds current GCIC certification or able to attain
• Holds Georgia POST Communications Officer certification or able to attain
